Standard 8: Educators contribute to the profession.
I do a lot of communicating and collaborating with other Teachers and Teacher Candidates. I share resources with staff at my practicum schools, I volunteer my time as a coach, and I debrief with other TCs when they are struggling or need ideas. A recent example of this would be collaborating with Ms. Sawchuck and Mrs. Pearce at CHSS. We had overlapping prep times and would often talk back and forth about assessment, questioning, and how we can make science a more inquiry driven discipline. I would meet with the LA teachers at CHSS, Mr. Minhas and Mr. Sacher, to help keep students on track with their work, and would ask them for advice when dealing with different students. I would also collaborate a lot with Sharon Johal, my coaching teacher. We would talk a lot about differentiating our teaching, assessment, and how to write progress reports and report cards.

I do a lot of sharing of resources with other teacher candidates, and I love to share what I've learned from different conferences with the rest of my SY cohort. I also share the different activites that I do in class on my teacher twitter account. I used this as a daily/weekly journal to share what cool things my classes did while I was their teacher. I follow several teachers both in and out of the district, and I have several teacher candidates, principals, and teachers following me.
Nicole (EY) and I presented to our peers and teachers in the community about scaffolding different science concepts for K-12 at the UNBC Education Fair. I also submitted a proposal with Aaron and Colton for WestCAST teaching conference in Calgary for this year. Colton wasn't able to attend but Aaron and I continued and got to present our journey with Place Based Education at WestCAST. It was an amazing opportunity to share our thoughts on connecting with one's classroom and introducing place-based learning on a national platform.
