PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES

COACH

I have coached volleyball for teams in my community for over 6 years now. I have coached both boys and girls aged 12-17, and both non-competitive to very competitive teams. Coaching has taught me how to scaffold the learning of different volleyball skills depending on my team's prior knowledge and skillset at the beginning of the season. Highlights from my coaching consist of attending Provincial Championships for both PGYVC 14U Girls and Kelly Road AAA Senior Girls.

VOLUNTEER

I have been a volunteer for the Prince George Summer Reading Program at the Library, AIMHI, the SPCA Christmas wrapping program, the PG Humane Society as a dog walker during wildfire season, and a Maker Faire Leader at the PG Mini Maker Faire. I find volunteering to be a very rewarding experience because I get to learn something new and meet new people. A highlight from 2018 would be volunteering at the 'paper rocket' station at the Mini Maker Faire. Kids make their own rocket out of paper and we used air pressure to launch them!

TTOC+EA

I have been a TTOC for the Catholic school district and School District 57 for two years. I have also been an Education Assistant for over 4 years now. I love any chance to be involved in schools and everyday is an opportunity for me to learn something new. I have learned so much about classroom management and how to scaffold learning for any age. I have been in classrooms from K-12 and I have thoroughly enjoyed the employment experience so far.

AUTISM SUPPORT WORKER

I had the opportunity of working as an Autism Support Worker over Summer 2018 for T&K Behaviour Specialists. I worked with two boys who have severe Autism. We worked a lot on social skills, and going out into the public to practice socializing in unpredictable situations. We went to PG Park Play Days, PG Library Story Time and Summer Reading Program events, as well as the 4 Seasons Pool. I had such a wonderful experience working with these two. I learned a lot about setting boundaries and following through on expectations. I also learned about language acquisition and how to provide structure in the classroom.

TUTOR

I have been a Math and Science tutor for three years now. I specifically work to develop test taking skills and to reduce any anxieties my students may have about the courses they are taking. I also try to use age appropriate language and simplify any vocabulary terms that may seem confusing to the students. My students who receive tutoring have improved their marks by about 1 letter grade. I am very proud of my work as a tutor!

SHIFT LEADER

I have been a server, cash admin, and weekend shift leader at Earls Prince George for almost 7 years now. Everyday is a new opportunity to generate new business and welcome returning customers. I love being a manager because I get to control and influence the success of our restaurant. I work with people aged 15-55 and often need to utilize quick-thinking and problem solving in my job. I also need to do a lot of training for our new Front of House staff, some of which are high school aged, and others are my age or older. I have to be diverse in my training and I set high standards of other employees by setting a hard working example and assisting those who are struggling.
